Why does this site exist: The simple answer is why not. After all there are many pages dedicated to the schedules and the buses. Without the bus stop most people
wouldn't know where to get on the bus. We are also trying to show how each district chooses to represent itself to the riders. This will include the type of bench they use, what trash cans they
choose, the shelters, info signs, and what their buses look like. This is intended as an overview only, as complete coverage could require too much space. Santa Clara VTA alone has 9 different
bus types/sizes with close to 15 different looks because of different paint schemes. They also use 4-6 different styles of benches, and over 20 different styles of shelters are located at VTA
stops. We are looking for pictures that represent the average stop facilities, and the most common bus for each district. Another purpose of this page is to show the variety of amenities chosen by
different districts so that people can use it as a reference when looking for new shelters, benches, etc. It is hard to find pictures of what they look like in the field. Most of the sales
brochures show them in perfect condition in ideal lighting. We are attempting to show them as they look after they have been installed. This stop is also to honor some of the most hated of all the
transit employees, the people who put that bus stop in the field that everybody hates, no matter how busy it is. Both of the primary authors of this page either work, or have worked for public transit in
the past. One of them maintains the bus stop inventory, while the other used to install bus stops. We would like to thank the following people for their suggestions:
