Community Transit
Aurora, WA

This is Aurora Village, between Seattle and Everett, WA. Seattle Metro (King County) and Community Transit (Snohomish Co). Taken July 1996. Yes, they really don't use raincoats or umbrellas much in Seattle...  Picture & text by C. Hobbs.

Grays Harbor Transit

Aberdeen Station, Wishkah and G Streets, Aberdeen (WA). Hub for the Grays Harbor Transit Authority. GHTA operates in Grays Harbor County, with connections to Olympia (Thurston County) and Centralia (Lewis Co).  Picture & text by C. Hobbs

"Fishbowl" Grays Harbor Transit bus in Olympia, WA. This stop is just outside of the Olympia Greyhound station. (In fact, GHT #40 is one of the few local transit connections that has ever shown up in Russell's Guide!)
This was taken in 1997; the new bus style can be seen at

Skamania County

This is the stop at the Park & Ride at Hwy 14 & Salmon Falls Road, G. Araki, probably while he was trying to find a place to go fishing.

Kitsap Transit

Here is a picture or two of the Kitsap (county) Transit Bus Stop at Warren and 16th in Bremerton. That intersection is a "T" and the bus stop is at the middle of the "T" and thus is neither farside nor nearside. The decoration was recently painted on by a college student according to Patrick. One is a close-up of the sign which has a "P" slashed through it which apparently means no parking available. Kitsap Transit uses small 30 foot buses, you can see the nose of one in the picture.
Interestingly Kitsap Transit also has something your average transit district does not. It runs a small "Foot Ferry" across Sinclair Inlet between Port Orchard and Bremerton every half an hour. They charge a dollar per ride and do not make change so you gotta have exact change. I got a schedule for that water bus that I will send on to you as well as one for the Washington State ferrys. I have included a picture of the foot ferry taken from our hotel as it heads towards the Port Orchard Ferry Dock with the Naval Shipyard in the background. There is also another dock in Port Orchard called the Annapolis Ferry Dock which is only used weekdays. I suspect that a lot of sailors live in Port Orchard and take the ferry to work which has a gate near the ferry dock. The Foot Ferry dock is next to the Washington State ferry dock which runs to Seattle and other places on a regular schedule. Takes about 45 minutes to get to Seattle on the ferry vs. a bit more than an hour on the freeway - if there is no traffic.  Picture & text by K. Rosenberg, der Bruder.

Hey, they treat them like buses, so here is the ferry terminal at Vashon Island.  Picture by G. Araki.
